Check both manufacturers’ instructions
Ask your CPAP supplier which battery and DC converter are approved for your exact device. Matching the connector is insufficient: voltage, polarity and required power must also match. Follow the approved configuration and the device manual.
Jackery’s HomePower 3000 product guidance states that its portable power stations are not recommended for medical-device applications. We therefore do not recommend the Jackery shortlist on this site as a CPAP backup solution.
Humidification changes energy use
Heated humidifiers and heated tubing can add substantial demand. Use the device manufacturer’s battery guide for the actual configuration and settings. Do not substitute an internet example for a verified overnight requirement.
Do not change prescribed therapy settings to meet a battery target. Discuss comfort settings and backup planning with your equipment provider when necessary.
Understand the energy calculation
The general relationship is energy in watt-hours = average watts × hours. For illustration only, 40W averaged over eight hours equals 320Wh delivered to the load. Allowance for conversion losses and reserve increases the nominal battery needed.
This arithmetic describes energy only. It does not approve a battery for CPAP, establish uninterrupted operation or replace manufacturer-specific runtime tables.
Prepare for a failed power source
Before relying on any approved setup, follow the provider’s instructions for a supervised test and checking battery state. Confirm whether power must be switched manually and what happens if the battery is depleted.
An outage plan for a medical device should include a fallback location or another approved source. Contact your healthcare or equipment provider for requirements specific to your therapy.
Where to check compatibility
ResMed publishes information about batteries, converters and travel power for its devices. Other manufacturers have their own accessory and compatibility documents. Use the exact model name, including generation, when requesting advice.
